About 150 local elected officials and ICLEI staff gathered at ICLEI’s National Workshop in Fayetteville, Arkansas on 11-13 July 2007 to discuss the economic benefits of local climate action.

Interest in saving energy, saving money, and taking action to combat the growing threat of climate change is increasing nationwide amongst local governments, businesses, and the public. About 150 local elected officials and ICLEI staff came together from across the country to discuss ideas and access technical tools to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions while achieving cost savings, promoting energy efficiency, and advancing economic vitality.

Congratulations, Ann Arbor, Michigan,
winner of the inaugural Climate Innovation Invitational!
The City of Ann Arbor (Michigan, U.S.A.) took home top honors at the ICLEI U.S.A. National Workshop (11-13 July 2007) in the Climate Innovation Invitational for their groundbreaking design and implementation of energy-efficient LED street lighting. As the recipient of this inaugural award launched by the ICLEI-U.S.A. Office, Ann Arbor receives $1,000 and the opportunity to present at the Sundance Summit: A Mayor’s Gathering on Climate Change in September.
